The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin the annual drawdown of Fern Ridge Lake on Thursday, October 8, 2015.
The lake level will initially fall about four inches per day and the Long Tom River level below the dam will rise nearly two feet.
Boaters who moor their watercraft on Fern Ridge Lake should make arrangements to remove them before launching ramps become unusable. Boaters planning to use the lake into the fall and winter are urged to take extra precautions as stumps begin to appear in greater numbers with the receding water level.
Irrigators along the Long Tom River are advised to relocate water pumps that may be damaged by higher flows. Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Corps of Engineers Park Ranger Office at 541-942-5631.
